SARPED distributed meat for Eid al-Adha
The distribution of slaughtered animals’ meat for Eid al-Adha conducted by Somali Agency Relief for Peace and Development (SARPED) highlights their dedication to providing essential support. This initiative specifically targets more than 100 households of internally displaced persons (IDPs) located in the Daynile district, on the outskirts of Mogadishu, where displaced people from neighboring regions are staying in IDP camps.
Eid al-Adha is a significant Islamic holiday marked by the ritual sacrifice of an animal, with the meat traditionally distributed among family, friends, and those in need. For IDPs, who often face severe food insecurity, receiving Qurbani meat can be immensely beneficial.
SARPED’s initiative is not just about distributing meat but also about fostering a sense of community and cultural continuity among displaced families. By ensuring proper handling and timely distribution of the meat, SARPED upholds both health standards and cultural practices.
This effort provides immediate nutritional support and helps alleviate some of the daily stresses faced by IDP families, allowing them to celebrate Eid al-Adha with dignity. Through such actions, SARPED demonstrates a strong commitment to supporting and uplifting vulnerable communities in Somalia.
